It isn’t a disease nor a curse. It is however infectious. Contagious. I would like to think it is curable so everyone infected with it would be hopeful. It is pandemic mostly affecting women regardless of race and status. Are you one of them? Well, are you struggling not to be shopaholic?

Shopping is a necessity, at least in this modern-age. Everything we need, we have to buy it. It would be a nice idea to have someone to supply you with everything you need for free. Who wouldn’t want to have a benefactor? But before we delve deeply on this idea, remember life is getting tougher each day and everyone would be so occupied on providing for himself. Forget about getting a benefactor then and besides there will be a sense of fulfillment if you worked for what you have though gifts will always be welcome 😊. To sustain life, we have to provide for our needs. We have to shop. It is a healthy indication that one is able to provide for herself. It’s a sign of financial stability. If you get what you need, that’s cool. If we have extra bucks, we can then get what we want. So shopping is healthy, right? So,when does it become unhealthy then?

Needs and wants are two different words with different meanings. Needs are those things that we can’t almost live without and that would include food, shelter, clothing, medical aids, etc, while wants are stuffs that we desire to have. People used to be confused with these two. Most of us are actually. Inability to distinguish the two would create a dilemma, a financial crisis. A layman who know nothing about economy and stock market, who doesn’t even started her own company to manage yet is in the verge of bankruptcy, on the verge of being broke without even venturing into any business just because of spending too much on stuffs that she doesn’t need. Thing that she can’t afford. It is binge shopping. That’s where the word shopaholic fits in.

Are You A Shopaholic?

Most women spend their fortune on shopping. Topping the list, is the desire to shop for clothes, bags, shoes and beauty accessories. To own the latest gadgets would fall next. Women by nature are vain. It is innate in us. We want to look gorgeous. Who wouldn’t? Most of us are materialistic. Shopping for some is a therapy. Sometimes, daily routine would bore you and you need an outlet to escape. You need quality time for yourself. You need to spoil yourself. You need to be a woman. You need to shop. What’s wrong with that? You would be lying if you would say, you’re not into shopping!

In this busy life, if you confine yourself into solitude, life would become tougher. Once in a while, we let ourselves be carried away by dreams. Dreams that only rich people can afford. Signature labels on the shelves is inviting you to come in. At first, you would just feast your eyes on it. Next thing, you want to hold it. Touch it. Feel it. Next thing, you are on the cashiers lane paying for it. There’s nothing wrong with that so long you afford it. For as long as you are able to carry out all these things without causing your life miseries, you are doing just fine. Assess yourself, are you doing it on purpose? Do you need it? Go ahead and buy it! Do you want it? Go ahead if you can afford it.

Some people would shop so they can show it off to their friends. This is a very cheap way of pampering yourself. Is there any fulfillment in doing that? Some women would shop for compliments. They’re dying for compliments. Some would shop only to get other people’s attention and to make them jealous. There’s no sense at all. Shopaholics to the worst degree would do everything they can just to fill the desire to get the things they want. They would resort to actions that would compromise their situation. Most of these would root from envy and jealousy. Driving them to do crazy things just to follow their whims.

Money Matters

If you have millions, who would stop you from spending? If you have more than enough, what would keep you from shopping? Money matters. The more money you got, the more luxuries you can afford. The more shopping you can enjoy. How to spend your money is your choice. What to shop, where to shop and how to shop is all yours to make. Celebrities and business tycoons who made millions or billions aren’t to be blamed for spending. Would you? If you spend within the boundary of your earnings, without messing your finances then it’s fine. Some people are just into shopping and they can’t help it. Undoubtedly, shopping is what most women do or would love to do. I am not saying, I am a wise spender. Sometimes I’m not. Just like other women out there, I am struggling not to be shopaholic. I am struggling to keep my focus on my priorities. Shopping is good but only if you have good cash. While we are saving pennies for the rainy days, it isn’t a bad idea to go on shopping on big sale 😊. What do you think guys?

Till next time. Leave your comments below and let us know about your thoughts on healthy shopping.
