Strawberry Daiquiri Made With Rum

Strawberry Daiquiri 4

How amazing has the weather been these last few days? I have a touch of the sunshine fever now and I am dreading when the rain returns.

I have spent so much time in the garden it has become my little haven.

I have spent the last week doing a spot of gardening and even stained the fence that surrounds the garden.

After weeding and planting up some planters the garden looked rather amazing and so it was decided we would host a barbeque and invite a few friends around.

After a few hours in the sun we ran out of chilled wine and we ladies turned our attention to the bottle of rum.

Now rum has never been a drink I would buy, we won it as a raffle prize a few weeks ago, so it has been sat on top of the kitchen cupboards gathering dust.

Rum brings a touch of the tropics to any party it was decided.

We now love rum for parties.

We made Strawberry Daiquiri’s and they were refreshing and delicious.

What you will need

Strawberry Daiquiri

4 fresh strawberries

2 tsp. white sugar

35ml/1½fl oz white rum

1 tbsp. strawberry liqueur

25ml/1fl oz lime juice

How to make Strawberry Daiquiri’s

Place the strawberries, sugar, rum, strawberry liqueur and lime juice into the base of a cocktail shaker and mash (muddle) with the end of a clean rolling pin.

Place the lid onto the cocktail shaker and shake well.

Strain the mixture into a Martini glass and garnish with half a strawberry.

Have a spare bottle of rum lying around? Why not give these a try …
