While this advancement sometimes brought threat to privacy and security to some individuals and entities, the beneficial effects many are reaping can’t be discounted. Amongst those who harvest the fruits of these technologies are stay at home mothers who attend to the needs of their family before anything else but now have found their niche. Interview with My Crafty Corner

This interview was transpired to inspire stay at home mothers to take advantage of their time to enjoy their passions while making their family their utmost priority. Time management is the key here and we will take advice from My Crafty Corner on this matter.

THM: Tell us about yourself and your shop My Crafty Corner?

My Crafty Corner:

About myself…I’m a SAHM (stay at home mum) of 3 who like any mum of little girls out there has an obsession of dressing up their girls. I’m also a homeschooler hence my life mainly revolves around kids and home. Like any SAHM, 24 hours in a day is a routine that surrounds running a typical family. Nothing extraordinary except my obsessive online-shopping addiction which I can completely justify (wink) but which on the other hand my hubby ultimately contradicts all the time.

THM: How did you discover your passion in crafting and sewing?

My Crafty Corner:

Well, I must admit that it’s bad spending ridiculous amount of money when the clothes that I buy can be easily made. Thats when the idea of sewing begin. I’ve learnt sewing from a very young age, but never thought I would ever have this very close connection to a sewing machine in my life. I’ve never sewn for such a long time but I guess, if one has the skill, its not difficult to rekindle it.

The moment I successfully had my first dress made for my eldest daughter a few months ago, I never stopped. It’s as if all these ideas has been dormantly stored inside of me that they now want to be explored and applied all at the same time.

Dont get me wrong, there is so much in present technology that one can benefit. So much, that I don’t want to hoard all the credits to myself. Of course pinterest, helped a lot. So there I was once where my old boring mummy life, completely turned 360 degrees by that cute dress.

When people starts appreciating your work, it makes you want to improve even more and when every single thing you make gives you an unexplainable satisfaction and happiness. When the simple hues and designs of ribbons and buttons that you get from the post makes your day, I think thats when i was convinced that my passion is in crafting and sewing. I don’t think I would be able to part with a sewing machine ever. The fulfillment is overwhelming. I never thought I have such creativity in me.

THM: What motivates you to start your online business?

My Crafty Corner:

The facebook page at the moment is mainly created to showcase my stuff. They are there to share to family and friends. Although it’s a welcome gesture to anyone who takes interest to purchase. It’s also nice to see that through displaying my crafts, I get to meet so many people from different part of the world.

THM: What can the customers expect from your shop?

My Crafty Corner:

I only use first class fabrics and all other materials are carefully selected. I spend a lot of money on my materials because i dont want to compromise. If I want to eventually turn this into a proper business, its important that initial customers are happy and that I give them reason to come back to the shop and of course my focus would be on ensuring and maintaining the quality of my craft. So its very important that the love for the work is there all the time.

THM: What are your future plans for My Crafty Corner?

My Crafty Corner:

In hind site, I would love to grow it into a full blown business. With all these said of course i thank Allah for the gift, a very supportive hubby, friends who never tire to support and encourage and loving family. At least for now I’m happy to think that my being SAHM is serving its purpose and has a goal to achieve. Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal.
