Sparkly Summery Nail Art… for Autumn!

By Cassiefairy @Cassiefairy

This week I’ve decided to paint my nails in a shimmery gold polish, to celebrate the last of the summer sun and to welcome the lovely autumnal gold shades that the trees will soon be turning. I am already looking ahead to Halloween and… dare it say it… Christmas – and I think that this nail art would look great for both of these occasions. Give it a go yourself because it’s much easier than it looks!

I painted my nails with two coats of O.P.I metallic gold polish to get a stronger, richer gold color all over the nail. After it had fully dried, I applied a chunky gold glitter polish by Avon around the edges of the nails, using the nail art brush that my fabulous fairy friend Jenna sent me as a ‘for-no-reason’ treat in the post. This created a sequined look and made my nails super-glitzy - another reason why I think it would be a good look for the holiday party season (eek, I said it again)! It looks impressive, like a proper party manicure, but it isn’t as hard to achieve as it looks – just use a thin brush (a paintbrush will do), dip it in the gold glitter and paint it on around the edges. Simply push the glitter flecks into place with the brush if they stray at all. I don’t think that my photos do this nail-art justice, because the light was reflecting off the glitter – it looks even better in ‘real life’. And if you’re wondering about my party earrings in the photo, they are from Spark Jewelry (use code ‘spark’ for 20% off), aren’t they fab?! Plus they match my new nails perfectly haha!

I wanted to share one more thing with you – I was super excited when I stopped by the Crabtree and Evelyn website to get my favorite verbena and lavender hand cream (which was delivered really quickly – above) and I saw that they are introducing a nail polish range! I had a quick browse of the colours (lots of lovely autumnal shades) and I don’t know how they have done it, but they have made a fast drying formula without using any toxic chemicals that are normally found in nail varnishes! Good on them, and I’m first in the queue to try some!
