ABOUT
SMEG is short for "Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla" or in English "Metal Enabling Plant from Guastalla Emilia".
Vittorio Bertazzoni founded this Italian appliance brand in 1948 out of the small town of Guastalla in northern Italy. (The name Bertazzoni may ring a bell as another Italian appliance manufacturer, they are cousins).
Over the last few decades, Smeg has continuously added to their production of home and kitchen appliances. Their most iconic product, the '50s retro refrigerator, was developed in the 1990s.
