Posted on the 09 March 2013 by Azharnadeem

SmartphonesTechnology has made living a lot smarter and easier, from the washing machine to wash your clothes to the daily phones you use. Phones today have everything incorporated in it. No more carrying various gadgets like cameras, GPS navigation system, laptops, etc.; smartphones have all of them built in. But the question still lies, is it really the smart and right decision? Here are the pros and cons of a smartphone.

Pros:

  1. Smartphones make work and fun portable. With its evolving technology and innovation, each smartphone from various brands are more user-friendly and specific.
  2. Smartphones have many apps from different providers for various necessities, from calculating your claim on ppi to games and many more. There are apps for specific reasons like reading PDFs, documents, storing secure information like passwords and so on. Everything is on the go. Smartphones come with projectors too. How awesome is that!
  3. Each type of smartphone, be it a Symbian OS, an Android OS, Windows OS or Blackberry OS, have their own unique qualities. Most importantly, they make communication very easy and convenient.
  4. When comparing the new smartphones to the old ones, you see the drastic advancement in features and performance. The first ever smartphone had a 16 MHz processor, today the basic smart phone runs on a 600 MHz processor. That is a huge development.
  5. Most importantly, smartphones have the capabilities of multi-tasking, just like a computer. With the add-on of using multiple apps in one go, makes the smartphones  desirable gadgets to own.

Cons:

  1. When it comes to choosing a smartphone, each brand and variant has its own setbacks. For example, the Blackberry and Windows OS do not support apps from Google or Instagram. Nor do iPhones or Androids have apps from Windows or Blackberry.
  2. Some of you may prefer typing on a keypad to touch. Most smartphones are touch oriented. This creates a conflict in your head about which phone to buy. Some Keypad phones do not have features that touch phones have and vice-versa.
  3. Although there is the innovation of “touch and type” kind phones, they are really not that efficient when it came to performance.
  4. The lower-end smartphones have many problems as they run on a slower processor. This gets the phone to hang, and run multiple apps very slow.
  5. The price range of a smartphone varies from as much as £82 to £481. The lower the price, the more problems you will face.

Although there are two sides to a smartphone, it has indeed made life a whole lot easier. No more hassles of carrying a vault of gadgets. But there may be a few people who are traditional. They prefer carrying a laptop, a camera, an MP3 player and a phone separately. The final decision is yours. What you prefer matters. Everything has its pros and cons. The end result should always be your satisfaction.
