Skype Prepaid Calling Cards Now in Retailers

Posted on the 27 March 2013 by Prepaidplans @prepaidplans

The cards will give users easy access to premium services like group video calling, and low rates on calls and texts to colleagues, family members, and friends.

“Skype prepaid cards are a great choice for our users in Australia looking to get more from the Skype experience, either as a way to add Skype credit to their account or as a gift for friends and family to allow an easier way to stay in touch,” says Nick Gundry, Head of Market Development in Australia/New Zealand and Asia.

“The Skype credit can be used any time and on any device, making it as easy as possible to be together when apart.”

The cards, already available in the United States, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, are now available at outlets including BP petrol stations, Harvey Norman, Australia Post, and Allphones, with 7-Eleven offering customers 25 percent off the cards during the month of March.

Users will be able to purchase cards in values of $10 and $25, which they can then use on Skype credit or subscriptions.

With Skype launched in 2003 to break down barriers to communication, Gundry says the launch of the cards is a significant new direction in Skype’s local retail strategy.

Skype credit gives users access to unlimited monthly calling plans, low per-minute calling rates to mobiles and landlines around the world, and other services like SMS messaging.

Access to group video calling is one of the biggest premium features available on the cards, giving users the ability to bring whole families, groups of friends, or remote colleagues together on a call.

Skype users will also be able to connect to over one million global WiFi hotspots.

The cards are simple to use, whether you already have a Skype account or are a brand new user. The cards can be redeemed on Skype.com by entering the PIN under the scratch panel on the back of the cards.

The cards can be redeemed for use anywhere around the world.

The prepaid card features are additions to the free Skype-to-Skype audio and video calls used by millions each day to talk to anyone, anywhere in the world.
