Skincare Routine: Update

By Jeneille @jinjer25
Hey Bellas! I've been changing/tweaking my skin-care routine and decided to share it with you. For the past 3-4 months I've been using the Clinique 3 step system along with my Clarisonic and I must say that while I loved it initially, the end result was extremely disappointing.
The Clarisonic is awesome. I'd recommend it to anyone BUT I'm not sure that it's for daily use. I've been using mine twice a day along with the Clinique stuff and while I didn't break out I realized that I was over exfoliating my face!!! What ended up happening is that the darker area on my chin started to clear up BUT left behind some dreadful marks that looked as if I was burnt (they actually hurt too).  I'm also pretty sure that the clarifying lotion from Clinique contributed to the over exfoliation so i decided to give Clinique and my Clarisonic a break and try Clarins (the products are in my recent haul post).
Here's what I'm currently using (and loving)
Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel
I've wanted to try the Oil Cleansing Method for a while now but (1) I'm too lazy and (2) It sounded a bit messy. The pure melt cleansing gel is genius in that it comes in the form of a gel that turns to oil once it comes in contact with your face. As you rinse it off it turns to a cleansing milk and leaves your skin feel super soft and smooth! Your skin has this 'glow' after and from what I've noticed there is no oily residue. I use this in the morning as I've noticed that it doesn't get rid of all my make-up in one go and I use another cleanser to take the make-up off that works well. This is a definite re-purchase for me.
Clarins Daily Energizer Wake-Up Booster
I follow up the Pure Melt Cleansing Gel with the Wake-up Booster. Clarins refers to this as Essential morning skin care for young skin that refreshes and enhances skin radiance. I apply it with my hands and pat it into my face. I haven't noticed any 'boost' to my skin but I have noticed that my skin is firmer and tighter and I love that this is gentle and does not burn my face (I'm talking to you Clinique). It smells great too! This is a possible re-purchase but there is also another toner by Clarins that I'd love to try.
Clarins Daily Energizer Lotion SPF 15
I moisturize with this moisturizer and this is HG for me. It does what I need it to do. Moisturize, protect and it does not make me sweat (Thank you Jesus!). That's been my problem for a while. The sweat resistant moisturizer don't contain SPF which i cannot live without. I apply this to my face while it's still wet and it absorbs quickly into my skin. LOVE!
NIGHT CARE
Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser
This stuff removes makeup like nothing i've ever used before. I double cleanse at night: once to get all off and another to make sure it's really clean. It does the job and does it well. But then again Neutrogena has never disappointed me where their cleansers are concerned. Their oil free cleanser is the truth when it comes to getting rid of breakouts
Clarins Multi-Active Night Youth Recovery Cream
Initially i was using too much of this and woke up with an oil slick of a face and wanted to write it off. i then decided to cut back on how much i used and I must say that this is a great night cream. I wake up with glowing skin and my face feels 'balanced'. I'm still on a hunt for my Olay night cream though. Used it a few years ago and LOVED the results. Will get back to you when my search is successful!
So that's about it. For the burn marks I've been spot treating with a fade cream that I picked up in the pharmacy after I got desperate (read: wanted faster results) and they are almost completely gone. I'm not an advocate to bleaching the skin but the pharmacist advised that it help to gently remove the darker skins cells to reveal the new skin beneath and it wasn't a 'bleach'. I do a review on that separately or link the name in a comment below.
Have a great Monday guys! And let me know what you've been using on your face (skin care).
