Skincare Resolutions for 2016

By Livedwithlove @kerrymarie
Let’s face it, we all make New Year’s resolutions each year that are never kept. Whether it’s to transform our diets and lose weight or to cut down on the amount of wine we drink, however it’s always something we ‘should’ do and not something we actually ‘want’ to do. Skincare resolutions for 2016 source Well, this year we’re encouraging people to be a little selfish and do something for themselves: To make a New Year’s resolution that they truly want to keep; something that’s going to make them look fabulous! Why not make it your 2016 resolution too; to make a better effort in caring for your skin? It may sound simple, and it is. Who wouldn’t want to look younger, fresher and more ravishing as every day passes?  So, how can you up your skincare game? That’s easy. Take a look at our top tips below: Wear Sunscreen Every Day With the rain and wind we have here most days in good old Blighty, lathering on sunscreen may make you chuckle. But whether you realize it or not, the sun (however hidden it may be) dries out your skin and according to dermatologists at the Skin Cancer Foundation around 90% of visible skin aging is a direct result of sun damage.  There you have it, applying a light, oil-free SPF each day will help protect your skin from these harmful rays and may even keep you looking younger for longer.
Drink Plenty of Water  Dehydrated skin can look dry, dull and wrinkles and pores are more pronounced. So, make sure to drink plenty of water to keep your skin plump, youthful and healthy looking.  Your body also needs water to help with the natural production of collagen which keeps your skin supple. So, invest in one of those fancy water infusers or carry a plastic bottle with you wherever you go. You should drink at least 2 litres of water a day!  Of course, if you think you need a little extra help, you could always invest in facial fillers or Botox®. If you’d like to lose up to 10 years from your face then a professional dermal filler or Botox® treatment is the most effective way of transforming your appearance. And with regular maintenance, the results will last a lifetime.  Get Your Beauty Sleep Everyone knows, if you don’t get enough sleep you get dark shadows and bags under your eyes. But do you know why? Well, most of the body’s metabolic activity happens at night. These processes flush the toxins out so they don’t show on your skin. Getting a good night sleep will also ensure there is blood flow to the vessels under the eyes, keeping the skin here plump and supple.  But, don’t forget to take off your makeup before you go to bed! The build-up of oils and dirt on your skin will result in you breaking out in spots.  Exfoliate Daily  The average 30 year old’s skin takes a full month to replenish itself. In this time skin can dry out, flake and generally end up looking a little dull. Exfoliating your face and body can jumpstart this process to gently scrub away dead skin cells and leave your skin looking radiant.  A battery powered exfoliating brush is a handy way of doing this with minimum fuss. Plus it would make a brilliant gift to add to your list for Santa this year.  So, which of the above top tips will you be following this January? Hopefully all of them! The best of luck keeping your resolution for brighter, beautiful skin. If you’re interested in filling your fine lines and wrinkles then get in contact with Dr Rob at Perfect Lips.
