I wanted to keep this table setting simple and elegant. I'm pretty much in love with the pink and blue color combo right now. It feels so fresh and summery. And it's a nice fresh pop of color against all the white in my home.

I found these melamine plates and wine glasses recently and I love the mix of patterns and colors. Plus, melamine dishes are perfect for a brunch or Mother's Day picnic. I layered them on top of galvanized metal plate chargers and added some pink napkins. I used 2 patterned napkins with tassels for little something different at both ends of the table. I also layered 2 table runners here for a little extra interest. The bottom one is a blue and white ticking stripe that I love for summer. And the raffia one on top adds some extra texture.

I love using just one type of flower for a centerpiece. It makes an incredibly elegant bouquet out of grocery store flowers- no flower arranging skills needed! I picked up this large clear vase a few months ago and I can't wait to keep filling it all summer with the hydrangeas growing in my yard.

It's always fun to have a drink bar set up for your guests in a separate area from your food station. Guests feel free to help themselves and it also keeps traffic flowing especially if you are having a buffet.

The key to mixing patterns on your dinner ware is to keep a common color theme going from dish to dish. The bottom dish has just a touch of navy blue in it so it works so well with the other dishes even though the patterns are so different.

I have a confession, when I was thinking about what I wanted use as my centerpiece flowers for this table setting I really had my heart set on peonies. Wouldn't that be so pretty? But there weren't any in the grocery store and I didn't have time to special order anything (does anyone actually have time for that?) But my local grocery store did have these gorgeous blue hydrangeas. I'm so glad they ended up being my option. I love how they look gathered in the center of the table.
