'So, what's your signature style then?' Lesser asked style questions that I still like to talk about. The pros of a) having a blog, and b) having some of the best readers means that I get sent many a link to enable me following new drops of products at all the usual suspect retailers. You guys...! And you all get it so right, so many times. So it got me thinking about signature style and that whole grown-up concept.
Q: "Signature Style: What's Yours?"A: 'A striking balance of trend led pieces with classic, timeless style.' - Sarah Sandiford, City Girl's Fashion Box.Little Knits & Little Skirts
Come the first inkling of autumn, I'm straight back into little jumpers. What can I say? Sweater weather is the better weather. I first got into the mindset in around 2010 when I was still at University, battling South Coast winds and conditions. Topknots were a plenty, as were fleece lined tights with every single outfit. (I didn't 'do' jeans back then.) I teamed every single knit with a skirt because, y'know, that makes perfect sense.
A Darn Good Collar
For the most part, I have quite a classic style. A good sharp collar and sheer details has me covered for all occasions: throw on with jeans and heels at work, amp it up with leather trousers and heeled boots at night. And when I really want to shake it up, I swing one on underneath a jumper. Because I am wild.
Kitsch Prints And All That Goodness
On the other end of the spectrum, it is the kitsch, cute and outlandish prints that define Daisybutter style. From the pineapple print to cat motifs, heart prints to My Little Pony, I've seen it all from you guys sending me links! I find a little crazy by way of print adds a touch of personality and quirk to any look and helps to make a classic look a teeny bit more me.
Polka Dots
Are polka dots on trend again? Were they ever? ... I don't care. They are simply everywhere in my wardrobe. They're on my phone case. They're on my coaster at work. They're even in my notebook when I have an extreme case of can't-stop-doodling-while-on-the-phone. Again, I think the origins of polka dots in my signature look comes from adding a touch of somethin' somethin' to my usually reserved and girlish style.
How would you describe my signature style? And more importantly, how about YOURS? I'd love to read your posts in response.
With thanks to Sarah and Aisling for their help and wit on tap, as ever.
