Shout location based social sharing app by Spangle

Computers and smartphones have made communication so easy and quick. Sending messages, images, audio and video to contacts across the world is a matter of just a few clicks or taps of finger. Apps like WhatsApp, Line etc. make it not just easy but inexpensive too. There are apps available now that allow users to post messages anonymously.

Recently, I came to know of an iOS app that allows broadcasting messages based on location. Yes, just set the distance to which you want the message to be shouted out. And it will appear in the feed of all the users of the app within that distance. This distance can be within a building, a few metres, a few kilometers or even a whole city.

This location-based sharing app by Spangle Inc. is aptly called Shout. It features location specific sharing of content and allows broadcasting of messages, images etc within a specified radius. All that the users need to do is set the desired radius, add content and shout it out.

“Shouters can ask questions, find people nearby, or just share an amusing picture. The “you had to be there” effect is frustrating for content creators and consumers alike. There is a constant struggle for creators to reach relevant audiences and for consumers find relevant content to consume. Shout is a new breed of social sharing that lets content creators cut through the noise to reach relevant audiences and lets the consumers of content move away from cluttered and irrelevant social feeds and consume content they actually care about,” said Misbah Ashraf, Chief Growth Officer, Spangle Inc.

The users of the Shout app can browse through the shouts of their personal contacts or explore the shouts of unknown users in their locality. These will include Shouts made by users of the app within the specified ‘shouting distance.’ The app also allows the users to respond to these local ‘shouts’ by commenting and liking them.

This location specific sharing of content will prove handy to those desiring to spread messages about local events, news and opportunities. I’m sure people engaged in promoting or marketing will find it useful. This also means that the ‘local feed’ of the app can in time get crowded with advertisements and promo posts.

It is, at present, available only for iOS devices. More information about Shout can be found at http://www.shoutat.us/
