Sheraton Atlanta Review

By Travellingtheworld

Sheraton Atlanta is located within the downtown area. A number of restaurants are close-by and the key attractions – The World of Coca Cola, The Georgia Aquarium and the CNN Center – are less than two km away. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site as well as the Carter Center are also not far away.

The three-night stay was financed by the bonus credits acquired through signing up for the BMO World Elite MasterCard, plus using up 7,000 Starwood Points.

We were upgraded to Sheraton’s Club Lounge status.

All Sheraton hotels I have been to have a special program granting Starwood Points and cash vouchers for foregoing the daily cleaning. This is part of the chain’s green initiative and we have taken advantage of it always.

Sheraton Atlanta gives 500 Starwood Points for a day of no-cleaning. It is a good deal.

There were also two complimentary water bottles, a gesture I greatly appreciate.

The room came with one king-size bed, a HD television set, a mini-fridge and a safe.

The Club Lounge

It is open 24 hours a day, with breakfast in the morning and snacks between 5-8 pm. There is coffee, milk and juices all day long.

Breakfast contained fruits (apples, berries, pineapple etc.,), muffins, croissants, Danish etc. There were different types of bread, and a toaster. There was also hot cereal. There was also fresh juice, coffee, milk etc.

Surprisingly, I could not see the ubiquitous bacon, eggs or sausages during the three days I was there.

During the snack time, there were different types of cheese, fruits and a hot snack.

Internet

One of my biggest challenges was the rather poor Internet connectivity. We had assumed the Internet connectivity came free with Club Lounge access but it did not. Of course, the Lounge itself had good connection and then someone tipped us about using the same password in the room as well. It worked but dropped very often.

 Final Comments

Atlanta, and may be Georgia by extension, epitomizes the southern charm. The staff was very friendly and always greeted us. In fact, even outside the hotel greeting people – whether they are acquaintances or not — was the norm.
