Serving It Up... B&B Realness: Blackpool, England!

By Josephharrison1990 @JTAH_1990

A Premier Inn stay? I don't think! Being back in Blackpool meant that a 'Bed & Breakfast' experience was on the cards, for me it's the done thing! Choosing a different hotel for my 2022 visit but on the same road as my 2014 once traded had to be the one. Lord Street's 'Brene Hotel' secured my reservations for that April weekender in 2022! Go easy on that Sunday breakfast, B!

Serving It Up... B&B Realness: Blackpool, England!

Feeling some doubt, those late night 'B&B' searches had my choices all over the place, I didn't want to spend the earth for a room that would be a glorified bag drop. The landscape of Booking.com's range of B&B's in Blackpool for my dates certainly didn't mirror the endless choices 2014 brought up for me. I need to let 2014 go, I know I do! Had the 'Pandemic' contributed to the lesser amount of rooms available in the 'North Pier' area of the that Lancashire beach town? Your guess would be as good as mine, really! No shade, I found 'Brene Hotel' and without hesitation I booked that 'single room' before I could say 'Blackpool!' Literally! The photos of the property had my mind at rest because their competition looked interesting. Please, stop me now before I say something stupid! Well, you never know? With Brene Hotel booked for my April 2022 'comeback' trip to Blackpool, I could focus on those nearby venues. Located on 'Lord Street', my Brene B&B was only a stones throw away from party central! OK!

My previous property wasn't available on Booking.com and judging by the conversation I had with the owners of the Brene Hotel, such standards over at 'McHalls' had nosedived like something different! Now, that location had me within spitting distance to those 'LGBT' venues because when the sunsets along the 'North Pier' in Blackpool, well the queens come out to drink the bar dry and the rest of it! With my chosen 'Brene Hotel' just around the corner from places like 'The Flying Handbag' and 'Kaos', well that stagger back during the small hours of the next morning felt like a few paces. With safety in-mind, I made perfect use of my key during my two night stay, with the door locked before the twilight hour I found it easy to let myself back into the hotel. From getting off the coach during that Friday afternoon, I found the location walkable to Lord Street from Bonny Street where the coach drops off. For my weekend needs, the accessibility of 'Brene Hotel' suited me fine. No, there wasn't any need for me to stress my mind!

My National Express coach saw me arriving into Blackpool just before 2:30 p.m., taking me around six minutes to reach the property, I embarked on my weekend 'Up North!' Checking in without any fuss, Darren showed me to my room once the balance for the stay had been settled. Backtracking a little, after stepping into the hotels hallway I felt a sense of 'I had picked a good hotel' because the vibe was right. The bar/breakfast area had a certain 'pastel blue & grey' theme, why was that? 'Brene' was the name of a fish? I didn't know why? Anyway, after climbing the steps to the second floor, I was shown to my room. I had booked a 'single room' for the duration of my stay at the Brene Hotel. The room was compact and had everything present, the cleanliness of the room was to a good standard with ample tea and coffee making facilities. To tell you the truth, I wasn't present enough to trust myself to make a cup of coffee during the Saturday and Sunday mornings. All looked fine to me, the price justified what I was presented.

A clean towel had been laid on the corner of the bed, with a sink and mirror located next to the window, I was then able to relocate my toothbrush and paste. I packed very light for that weekend but if needed be, I noticed a sizeable chest of draws was present in the room by the window. I didn't ask about the 'Wi-Fi' because I had mobile data burn and quite frankly I had far too much to see during that weekend stay, surfing the net wasn't a priority. No worries at all. That 2022 accommodation felt safe, there was a sense of security because the 'realness' of the area had me wondering, I felt at ease at 'Brene Hotel. Hold up, I have never before blogged about a hotel experience to this detail, being honest the opportunity to stay in such a 'B&B' hadn't been on my radar until life took me back to the UK. With life changed in what felt like a flash of light, 2022 allowed me that guaranteed freedom to embrace something closer to home for once. In the blink of an eye, I had arrived in Blackpool, found my hotel and settled in real quick! Let's go, B!

As Friday night turned into Saturday morning, breakfast was on my mind with that 'hangover' hurting my head badly! Rising from my room within the directed time, I made breakfast before 09:00 a.m. There was no need to double up on any items because my Full English Breakfast, toast and cereals had me feeling content and ready for the day ahead of me. Other guests enjoyed their breakfast, giving compliments to the chef and that for anyone is nice to hear. Nothing was too much trouble, I felt that the breakfast was more than enough and with it tasting great, I had no complaints. Yes, the night before had been hectic but the time of breakfast did not have me rushing, things worked out fine. Setting myself up for the day, I walked the 150 yards from the 'Brene Hotel' to Blackpool North Railway Station to catch my train to Preston. I had planned to spend a couple of hours exploring that pint-sized Lancashire city. Located within easy reach, my hotel choice had been motivated by the distance to the train station. Get it, gone!

Back in Blackpool after Preston's offerings, I returned to my room at the 'Brene Hotel' to rest before my Saturday night out. The room during the day was quiet, the area that the hotel backed onto wasn't noisy. Having the time to relax before the night ahead in the room was a blessing, Blackpool had many more shenanigans in-store for me that Saturday night. Ensuring upon check out on the Sunday morning, I vacated the room in a timely fashion with the intent to stay in the hotels lounge area before my coach because it was an afternoon departure. I had missed breakfast, I knew that, to my amazement 'Darren' asked me if I fancied a breakfast sandwich and a hot drink? That was honestly appreciated and of course the offer was accepted with relief, yet another 'hangover' had taken over! That sausage sandwich and pot of coffee, well it hit different because I needed that bit of sustenance to liven me up! Nothing was too much trouble for 'Darren and Alison' at Blackpool's Brene Hotel, a B&B well chosen if you ask me! Be back soon?
