September 2012 Clean Energy and Sustainability Events

Posted on the 01 September 2012 by 2ndgreenrevolution @2ndgreenrev

September 2012 Clean Energy and Sustainability EventsIn an attempt to bring more meaningful events – and relevant – to the calendar, we’ve changed the way in which we feature conferences, fairs, and symposiums. This change has led to more events that are local in nature, as opposed to mega-international conferences. We still have numerous large events listed, especially those that are particularly timely or pertinent, like the World Student Environmental Summit in Switzerland (see below for more details). However, there are also speaker engagements like the one at Colorado State University (one of two events on the September calendar taking place in Fort Collins, including the Tour de Fat today!) on Wednesday afternoon September 12th. While we are in no way comprehensive, we continually add events to the calendar, so please check back from time to time.

Take a look at some of the choice events and peruse our calendar for conferences near you. Please let us know of any conferences, events, or festivals in your area. If they are appropriate, we will gladly add them to our green events calendar. Send us an email with the event’s name, date, location, description, and website. In fact, one of the events listed below was submitted by a reader of the site.

Here are a few of the events happening around the world:

World Student Environmental Summit 2012
When: Sep 5 – 8, 2012
Where: University of Lausanne, Switzerland
Description: The 2012 summit is organized around the theme “Let’s change!” It is obvious nowadays that without a radical change in the behavior of mankind, the environment – and by way of consequence, mankind itself -, will undergo irreversible damage. What is Change? How do we pursue change on different levels? A fully-booked three-day program will greatly discuss all these questions thus raising a sense of critical thinking amongst student representatives and delegates.

We will discover how campus food systems are and can be utilized as a laboratory to enhance students understanding of the importance of sustainable production and the complexity of local, regional, and global food systems. In the tradition of SAEA’s four previous conferences, this event will focus on networking and providing participants with opportunities to develop tools to take home to their campuses and communities. Come individually or as a group and use the time to revolutionize sustainable agriculture education in your community.
