Savvy’s Lavender Mint DIY Bodywash Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • 2/3 cup castille soap (I like Dr. Bronners)
  • 2 tbsps carrier oil (almond, jojoba, apricot, etc.)
  • 15 drops peppermint essential oil*
  • 20 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops geranium essential oil (optional, but I like the flowery mix)
  • 1 tsp water
  • upcycled bodywash, lotion or conditioner bottle

How to make your own DIY Bodywash:

Pour castile soap and oils into bottle first and shake well. Then add 1 tsp water and shake again. Use with your favorite bath mitt, or sponge. Also, if you’re traveling, just cut this recipe in half and put it in a smaller travel-size bottle! You can also use this as a footsoak, handwash and shampoo (if you’re in a pinch). Shake before each use.

:)

Peppermint essential oil* – This oil is excellent for circulation and stimulation of blood cells and since it stimulates blood floe is excellent to use first thing in the morning. The scent is also good for clearing blocked nasal passages and phlegm due to colds and allergies. It’s also good for relaxing tired or overworked muscles.

Lavender Essential Oil – This oil is a natural bug repellant,  and helps calm the itch from bug bites. It naturally helps to calm nerves, reduce heart rate and can help control acne. I’s also good for circulation and digestion which is why this oil is often a main ingredient in massages.

Geranium Essential Oil – This oil is antibacterial and antimicrobial which will help the body wash last longer. It also act as an astringent, which helps make blood vessels contract, giving the skin a more toned and tight appearance. It is also a natural bug repellant and is a natural deodorant.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL AND ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHILE PREGNANT AND NURSING.
