Saving Space with Packmate

Big Mr A has been moaning at me for ages that we need to get rid of some of the Little A’s old clothes as they are taking over the loft.  I’ve been trying to convince him that until we have finished having children we should hold onto them.  He has not been convinced!  When I saw the opportunity to review some vacuum storage bags made by Packmate from Home Storage Direct I thought this may be a good way to convince him to keep them for a little longer as it would save lots of space.

We were sent three packs of bags including high volume storage bags, a flat storage bag and travel storage bags.

The high volume storage bags really are very high volume.  I managed to pack lots of clothes in them, often two bags worth into one.  There is a fill line near to the top of the bag so that you don’t overfill it and it is very easy to zip up using the plastic attachment which you just slide across.  To vacuum out the air is also very easy.  You simply pull up the plastic stopper on the side of the bag, stick the nozzle of your hoover over the top and switch it on.  You can see from my short video, below, how easy it is to use and how much space it does actually save.

The high volume bags are also great for storing bedding and claim to be able to fit a kingsize duvet in them.  Because of the square base of the bag you can also store it in a plastic tub, for extra protection.  Just remember to place it into the box before you pack it!

The flat storage bag was just as easy to use.  Although I couldn’t store quite as much, they are still high volume.

The travel storage bags are for use when you are going on holiday.  I remember using some when I went to Kenya and they really do save you lots of space in your suitcase.  They are, again, easy to use.  For these you don’t need a hoover.  You simply roll them up and the air comes out of the little holes at the bottom of the bag.

I think these storage bags are a great space saving solution and, if you are wanting to store them somewhere they can be seen, such as under your bed, they have really nice patterns on them too to hide whatever you have put in them.

Not only do the bags save space I also think they look much neater and tidier and Big Mr A was quite amazed when he came home to see how much space I’d manage to save.  I think I may have convinced him to hang onto the clothes for that little bit longer now!

Each bag comes with a 5 year guarantee and there are lots of different sizes available to suit every need.
