Samsung Debuts the Gear S Smartwatch

About six months ago, Samsung announced its second-generation smartwatch, and two months ago, it launched its first Android Wear model. Now, the company’s debuted another wearable called the Gear S. What’s different about it? It comes with built-in 3G connectivity, which means that you won’t need to keep it tethered to a smartphone in order to receive notifications or make calls.

The Gear S sports a 2in SuperAMOLED display, with a resolution of 480 x 360, and its screen is rectangular and slightly curved. This wearable is powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS, and you should be able to use the Gear S for two days straight without recharging it. On the inside is a 1GHz dual-core processor, backed by 512MB of RAM memory, and 4GB of storage. The watch also comes with a standalone music player, but no camera. The Gear S will be available in black and white.

The Gear S price is yet to be revealed, but Samsung says that it will launch in October, 2014.
