Steph Curry wasn’t nominated for any individual award last night but his team, the Golden State Warriors, won Best Team — and his teammate, Kevin Durant, won Best Championship Performance.
“It was an unbelievable year,” Curry said. “A lot of noise and hype around us in the beginning of the season, but we tried to keep our head down and focus on the process, and nine months later, we got another ‘chip.’”
Oklahoma City Thunder star, Russell Westbrook and wife Nina Westbrook (we just love her here at FirstLadyB) pose on the carpet. Westbrook won Best Male Athlete.
“I’m just humbled to be on this stage in a room full of great athletes,” Westbrook said accepting his award. “I’m just humbled and very thankful.”
Gabby Douglas looked beautiful on the carpet.
Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles, who won Best Female Athlete looked adorable on the carpet in electric blue.
“Every since Rio, it has been an amazing year and the best part of it all was meeting the young people. I want to thank you all for believing in me, it means the world to me. So, thank you,” she said in her acceptance speech.
Russell Wilson walked the carpet alone, wife Ciara was home taking care of the couples newborn daughter, Sienna who was born in April.
