The Rasmussen Poll has joined the quest to find a favorite among the field of GOP hopefuls wanting the presidential nomination in 2016. Their survey was done on January 18th and 19th of a random national sample of 787 likely Republican voters, and has a margin of error of 3.5 points.
What they found was what others have found -- that there really is no real favorite at this early stage. Romney leads the field with 24%, but that is far from impressive (since it shows that 76% of Republican voters would rather have someone else). Bush (13%), Carson (12%), and Walker (11%) are also in double digits. Everyone else is in single digits.
Although I think any of these men would be a disaster as president, I do commend the Republican voters for realizing (at least for now) that the two Texans seeking the office are not a viable option. Perry got only 5%, and Cruz didn't get enough support to even be included on this chart (falling somewhere in the 4% of others).
It's going to be fun to watch these guys fight it out over the next few months for the right to face Hillary Clinton in November of 2016 (and get their butt kicked).
