Robert Downey Jr. Is Set To Make His Broadway Debut With ‘McNeal’

Robert Downey Jr. is all set to get on stage with Ayad Akhtar’s latest play. His Broadway debut, McNeal, will feature him as Jacob McNeal. He will be a talented writer who will have “an unhealthy fascination with artificial intelligence.” The play will begin its preview on September 5.

Academy Award-winning director Robert Downey Jr. is all set to make his Broadway debut. The fan’s beloved Iron Man will play the lead role of Jacob McNeal in Ayad Akhtar’s play. In this play, we will see Robert Downey play a talented writer who struggles with the latest novel. The character will see “an unhealthy fascination with artificial intelligence” and have a broken family life.

It will be directed by Bartlett Sher, who also holds credit for Oslo (2017) and To Kill a Mockingbird (2018). 

The play will take place in Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater and will be wrapped up by November 24. The other actors in the movie will be announced in the coming days. 

Notably, Downey is one of the highest-grossing actors of all time. He has recently won various awards for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer. For his role, he has won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award.

He has also referred to the break he has taken from acting on the stage. Nonetheless, the acclaimed actor has confirmed that any gap cannot stop him from giving a flawless performance.
