My Take on Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder 005:

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder comes in a light brown plastic pan with a clear plastic lid. The lid opens easily as it doesn’t close by snap or lock, it is highly prone to breakage as I have seen many girls crying over their Rimmel powder being broken. There is no mirror or applicator provided with the powder and the packaging is really cheap, you can’t take this powder with you for touch-ups as you will have to carry a separate mirror and sponge applicator to do touch-ups.

The shade I have with me is 005 silky beige, which goes well with my skin tone, it just matches my skin tone without making it brighter or dull like any lighter or darker shade would do! I usually apply it with a kabuki brush which gives smooth coverage. The powder is finely milled but doesn’t have a silky texture. It doesn’t get cakey but on extremely dry skin or in winters, it can cake a bit and accentuate dry patches as I have experienced this in winters.

This pressed powder has become like my go to face powder. I have used it so much that I’m on the way of emptying the pan now. I use it to do last touch up of my makeup and to set everything, plus to control any excess oil or shine I get from my base products. The powder has a sheer coverage, it just adapts to the skin tone and doesn’t give any coverage but helps cover a bit of redness. It controls shine and oil like magic and the oil controlling capability is up to 3-4 hours without touching up. It does take away the shine and excess moisturizer from my base products as well which I love as some of my tinted moisturizer and BB creams looks too dewy and shiny on me. For skin that gets oily pretty quick, you may need touch-ups after 3-4 hours but again touch-up is an issue with it as it doesn’t come with an applicator and a mirror so I’d suggest you to buy a separate sponge specially for this powder and keep it in the pan and then you can carry it with you for touch-ups. If I’m carrying this powder with me while I’m travelling, I carry a mini powder brush for touching up my makeup. It doesn’t clog pores or breaks me out and gives me a smoother, oil-free look.

Ditch or Pick it:

Definitely pick it up as it’s a steal at Rs. 195 and is great in controlling oil and excess shine so a must try for oily skinned beauties. Dry skin can also give it a try as I have dry skin and I also love using it besides it being a matte powder!!
