Rimmel London BB Cream

By Bbeautylove @bbeautylove

October may seem like an odd time to release a new BB Cream, what with them being so associated with the warmer months, but that’s what Rimmel did and this is what I thought of it…

Rimmel London BB Cream

The BB Cream market seems to have gone from zero to sixty in a matter of months, with every brand from MUA to Bobbi Brown now having their own take on this Eastern wonder. With some high street brands diving straight in with poor results, Rimmel seems to have taken a little longer and come up with this 9-in-1 skin perfecting ‘super make up’ base. It amazingly claims to moisturise, prime, minimise pores, conceal blemishes, cover redness, smooth, brighten, mattify and protect skin with an SPF 25.

It comes in two shades and is pretty widely available. So, does it stand out and stand up to current BB Creams on the market?

Surprisingly, yes. For a BB Cream it is very thick and creamy yet incredibly lightweight. It blends in beautifully over the skin (I find that fingers are best for this) and it covers blemishes, redness and pores very well. You can build this up in more oily or problem zones without it feeling heavy and it never cakes or looks patchy. The colours seem pretty good too, the Light one is a perfect match for me and the Dark one seems to be doing well with people too.

It is my base of choice at the moment and I never thought I would be wearing a BB Cream in the Winter but my skin looks and feels so good when I wear it.

The only thing I can think of that is negative is the packaging. I don’t like it. This is the sole reason why I haven’t tried it until now as it just looked cheap and like the product inside wouldn’t be good enough. But after trying a free sample I was hooked and the packaging didn’t seem so important anymore, but I think Rimmel really need to reconsider this, as most people shop with their eyes. I.E if it don’t look good, it ain’t gonna sell.

So, this will be my faces’ Venice companion (I will be there all week so keep an eye on Twitter for any pictures!) and I am so happy I tried it. It’s small and compact so great for my travel make up bag. It is easily  up there with the best BB Creams you can find on the high street. Top marks Rimmel.

Available from Boots, Superdrug, Supermarkets, ASOS and online. Priced £6.99.
