Rides for 2012

prayitno

Seeking a thrill? Day Trip? The awkward one holding belongings with the inability to say no? I’d say the majority of us slot into one of these categories some way or another! Theme Parks, whether the weather loves us or hates us; always offer a memorable occasion.

With already many roller coasters to pull our vocal cords and make our ‘tummies go’… 2012 welcome’s more gut wrenching rides.

Alton Towers will be opening a new ride this season in the ‘Forbidden Valley’, a sort of a more deadly brother to the current ‘Nemesis’; is the ‘Nemesis Sub-Terra’. This coaster will make its debut on March 24th and will be featured indoors with three separate ride experiences, the pre-ride experience, main coaster and the post ride experience.

The theme for the ride will have a sort of industrial feel, fitting with the surroundings in the ‘Forbidden Valley’ alongside Ripsaw, Nemesis and Blade. The ride will take you through the original story of the Nemesis monster, exposing you to psychological and physical thrills in an intense underground setting. Quite a luring video has been posted onto the Alton towers website teasing the eager, take a look!

Thorpe Park; ‘the nations thrill capital’ will soon present ‘The Swarm’ to 2012; and with the countdown on the homepage it is brewing anticipation. However, halting the spoon from stirring; a recent report stated that after £20million pounds spent, the officials need to take drastic measures as some of the test dummies came back with no limb! With some of the dummies experiencing ‘close calls’ on the ride that will be opening in less than two months, the public is assured that limbs were only lost because the ride was pushed to the absolute limit! Of cause, this ride will only be open to the public when 100% safety is secured; and with some re-adjustments and rebuilding I do believe this has recently been assured. Despite the hiccup… This will be a ride not to miss!

Skipping over the pond now to San Francisco at Discovery Kingdom; where the new ‘Superman Ultimate flight’ coaster has been erected. This ride is an adaption of the Superman coaster back in 2002 and 2003; ditching the rotating cars this ride now increases the sensation of flying. With speeds of up to 62miles per hour, loop the loops and twists, you may really feel like Superman!

Six Flags theme park in Baltimore/Washington D.C will soon be the home of ‘Apocalypse Last Stand’. This standing thrill ride has been created with intention to give the rider a ‘small preview’ of the predicted end of the world in December 2012. With the coaster lasting two minutes; this ride will certainly be worth the wait despite speeds breaking no records. The attraction will be opened after a firework celebration on 24th May.

Also coming to the Six Flags theme park is the ‘Sky Screamer’, a new thrill ride rather than a coaster. At towering 24 stories in height and circling a 98 foot circle at 40mph; this road challenges the average ‘swing’ ride. This ride will be open in spring and is a thrill not to be missed!

With the openings of these new rides lurking round the corner, the anticipation heightens. So get in the queue!
