Review/Swatches: Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

By Beautifulbuns

So so so were any of you at the Sephora grand opening last friday on 22 July? I was there, and it was a hugeeee crowd – there were people who camped overnight outside the store (with sleeping bags!) just to be one of the first few in line for the $10k worth of vouchers! Of course, there were also the beauty junkies who were excited to get their hands on brands such as Cover FX and Kat Von D Beauty. Now KVD Beauty is known for superbly strong pigments as well as long lasting power, particularly their Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – let’s put this to the test yo!

I say…

The Packaging: A long, slim tube measuring about 13.5cm long and 1.3cm wide. The sponge tip applicator is soft and non-abrasive, and has a tapered rounded end that helps in filling out the lips and going along the outline.

The Scent: None.

The Texture: It glides easily over the lips and is rather creamy (with a slight hint of extremely finely milled pigments). You can smack your lips together when you have just applied it. It will set into a matte finish and essentially “locks” into place. It’s immensely pigmented, and the long-staying power of this is not to be trifled with – if you accidentally draw out of line, you have about 5-10 seconds to quickly wipe it off with a tissue sheet before it sets into place.

The Verdict: I’m pretty damn impressed with this! It stays very long indeed – I’m counting 7 hours, and it’s been a light breakfast, a brunch as well as lots of tea drinking, and my lips are still relatively pigmented (at about 75% color intensity)! Although my tumbler does have some lipstick stains, I notice that if I swipe my lips with a sheet of tissue, not much color is wiped off. I also love that despite it being a matte finish, it’s not overly drying, and doesn’t make my lips look too much like a wrinkled raisin. It’s been a bumpy road when it comes to finding a suitable matte-finish lippie for my dry, chapped lips, and by golly, I think this could be it! What’s more, there’s a ridonkulously large variety of colours for you to choose from – get them now from Sephora~
