Review/Swatches: Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips

By Beautifulbuns

Woohoo! It’s the 19 of December! And yes I know it may hold absolutely no significance to y’all (except those with birthdays on this date), but today is the day my work takes a break for the year. Woohoo! Now it doesn’t mean I have no work – it just means the usual daily grind of editing has slowed down to a turtle’s pace yayyyyy. In celebration of my ear-to-ear grin, here’s a review on these lip products I’d gotten several months ago, but like me being buried in work, got buried in my mountain of beauty products. Heh.

OR206 Spangle in Coral: A peach-coral shade that’s on the warmer-toned side.

PK010 Bling in Pink Beam: A bright pink-tinged coral. I like that it’s not overly orange so that it fits those with yellow-based skintones better.

PK011 Star in Pink Light: A blue-tinged lilac pink that’s pretty wearable without being too Nicki Minaj.

PK012 Hologram in Jewel : Now pardon the pun, but this is probably the jewel in this collection. It’s sheer (with a very slight pink sheen), with a gold tinge (which explains the “hologram” name as well as the Bling Me Prism name).  In my photo above, I wore it alone, and in my photos below, I wore it over another color to bring extra dimension (aka a more 3D feel) to your lips. Psst: This is also the trick that drag queens use to make their lips “pop” more.

RD303 Ruby Ring in Red: A bright cherry red.

I’m wearing: PK011 Star In Pink Light + PK012 Hologram in Jewel (on the center portions of the lips)
Notice the center of the lips appear a little orangey because I mixed the two colours togetherly :D

I say…

The Packaging: Now like the name, the packaging is also similar to the previous Color in Liquid Lips product from Etude House, except that it’s more shiny and shimmery aka limited edition. It comes in a cylindrical tube with the cap that is attached to the applicator sponge tip. The shape of the applicator sponge is supposed to resemble the shape of lips, but I’m rather impressed with the tip cos it allows me to draw a really precise line

The Texture: Again, similar to its predecessor, the texture is smooth and hydrating, and goes on with a semi-glossy finish. This is a really pigmented lip tint (perhaps a melted lipstick, but not as creamy). The color itself is pretty pigmented and can give a great color payoff with just 1 coat, with the exception of Hologram in Jewel which is sheer with a gold tinge. It does a pretty decent job of covering the flakey chapped lips. What I like about it is that after eating/drinking, it fades to a tint and leaves the lips feeling distinctively more moisturised than with other products. Now note that the lips will not feel as awesome as with a lip balm; I’m just saying that this product does not dry the lips out, which is always a plus point in my book.

The Verdict: Well, I was a pretty big fan of the Color in Liquid Lips, so I’m pretty taken with this range / extension of colours too. It goes on smoothly onto the lips without dragging, helps hide the chapped lips while giving an intense boost of color and shine, and more importantly, doesn’t leave it dry and flaking. The holographic effect isn’t much more than just a gold-tinged finish but oh well, it’s all in good fun :D Head on out to get your hands on them – I think they might be limited edition colours.
