Review/Swatch: Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter

By Beautifulbuns

The past week hasn’t been a shining moment in my life – it’s one of the rare moments when I’m experiencing skin dryness (compared with the usual slathering of facial sebum). And now, comes the time I have been waiting for – faking it (the glow) till I make it. Muahahaha.

I say…

The Packaging: A frosted-finish curved bottle that’s smooth to the touch, and comes with a cap as well as a pump dispenser.

The Scent: A refreshing whiff of coconutty awesomeness that conjures images of beach vacays 😀

The Texture: It’s a good mix of watery and creamy, which means it glides easily over the skin without becoming a dripping mess. At first glance, the color might seem too intensely robot-metal and put people off. However, it blends out very nicely into a glowy sheen that’s surprisingly, barely visible in terms of color – I was expecting a distinct gold-yellow tinge but it actually just came out (as you can see) as a lovely skin-flattering glow. In addition, what really makes this stand out is its finish – it forms a very lightweight “film” of sorts that coats your skin without make it feel too clogged or tight.. It’s not greasy nor sticky, and literally sets in place . I apply it using a highlight/rounded end brush (just run the brush head agiainst  and stipple it into place (using small circular motions).

The Verdict: A multi-tasking product that not only serves as a highlighter, but also has that cooling and refreshing sensation with its coconut ingredients. The finish is subtle without being OTT, and the shade is universally flattering for both pink and yellow skin undertones. What’s more, a little goes a long way – I literally used less than a drop for both cheeks.
