Review: Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Amelia

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
To be perfectly honest, I've never been a Stila fan.  And when I first swatched the new Color Balm Lipsticks in store, I was not a fan.  But something about Amelia just kept drawing me back to it.  Read on to see pictures and what I think about this product.
Shade:
Stila describes Ameila as a pink taupe.  Well, I have news for them.  Only half of that is accurate.  It is pink, but I don't see any taupe.  When I apply it, it has a pinky coral look to it.  And it is brighter than the description makes it out to be.  If you are looking for a more pinky neutral, this is not it.

Texture and Staying Power:
I love the formula of this stuff.  It feels smooth, creamy and even a tad glossy.  The application is great, too.  It does not drag across my lips, but effortlessly glides.  If you are prone to dry lips, dragging might be a bit more of a concern.  It does have a minty scent and slight tingle.  I don't find it bothersome.  In fact, I love it.  But I adore mint anyway.  The staying power is between a lipstick and a balm.  I get about 3-4 hours out of it, but it does leave a stain on my lips.  After the 3-4 hours, my lips still did not feel dry and none of those annoying flakes.
Pigment:
The pigment is great.  One swipe gives semi-opaque coverage and opaque coverage is achieved after two swipes.
Packaging and Price:
This lipstick is housed in a silver tube with Stila written on it.  One of my favorite things about this is that the "Stila" portion of the tube corresponds with the actual shade.  The case is sturdy, but not too heavy.  You don't have to worry about it popping open in your bag.  The diameter of the lipstick itself is a bit large, so if you have thinner lips like myself, it can be a bit difficult to apply.  The price of these lippies is $22 at Sephora and Ulta.

Overall Impression:
I really enjoy this product and find myself reaching for it often.  It feels nice on my lips and I love the minty tingle.  "Amelia" is a nice spring shade and it adds a nice, easy pop of color on minimal makeup days.  This is a winner for me.
