I usually spend my Saturday mornings at the beauty salon, but this past Saturday I spent it watching a virtual screening of the animated Netflix film The Mitchells vs. The Machines.

I have to be honest and say that animated movies are usually not my thing, but this movie had my attention from the beginning. The visuals were amazing!

I was glued to my laptop trying to figure out how the Mitchells were going to save the world from the robot apocalypse.

It all starts when Katieis accepted into the film school of her dreams and is excited to leave home. When her overprotective dad insists on the entire family driving her to school to bond, they find themselves coming together to save the world from the machines.

The very gadgets that they had come to depend on was now turning on them. Cell phones, laptops, roombas, etc..big tech had basically stored all of their weaknesses and was using them to capture every human on earth so that they could take over. Sound familiar? The movie even throws shade at Facebook and I was here for it..lol

Even though the movie was full of laughs and action, I found myself shedding a couple of tears towards the end. The message of family, hope, and believing in one another is just what we need during these trying times.

Oh and Katie Mitchell makes it to film school and her family is right there to send her off.

The Mitchells vs. The Machines premieres Friday, April 30th on Netflix.
