Review: Mountain Warehouse MTB Shorts

By Grindinggears

When it comes to spending money on mountain biking I’ll happily chuck £100s on stuff for the bike, but I’m very reluctant to spend any of that hard-earned cash on clothes. That’s why when I saw a pair of MTB shorts in the MNTwarehouse sale down 50% to £25 I just had to have them! The only other shorts I’ve found at this price are the MoreMile Shorts, which have been my go-to shorts for over 3 years now.

About the Shorts

Initial impressions are very good, ticking all the boxes:

•lightweight
•flexible
•fast drying
•zip pockets
•plain coloured
•padded shorts

Mountain Warehouse Shorts
After a couple of rides I have experienced almost no issues with these shorts. The only niggles I do have is the popper system that keeps the liner and short aligned can be a pain in the side of you don’t pop it together – which I almost never do – and the fact that you only have two pockets.

Don’t get me wrong, these MTB shorts are comfortable enough and they do exactly what they say on the tin. However, the initial price tag of £50 is definitely too steep for these shorts, especially when you consider the competition at that level. Even at £25 I would take the MoreMile shorts over them, but they are definitely a contender in this lower bracket.

Overall

If you have £50 to spend on shorts, go for something like the Endura Humvee which gives you a lot more bang for your buck! If you’re like me and hate splashing out on clothes then the MoreMile shorts are a gift from heaven at £25. If you find yourself in Mountain Warehouse during their sale then these aren’t a bad buy, but it is a very budget product at not such a budget price.
