MOMS Good Home Cooking is a takeaway and food delivery service with a twist. Intially developed with students in mind, they deliver a set of 5 home cooked meals packaged for reheating on a Monday, enough to last you each evening until the weekend.

They are now looking to expand their reach to those busy professionals as well.

Currently they only offer one menu set – Pakistani cuisine, but are also currently finalising several other menus including Middle Eastern, African and Caribbean. The aim is to deliver tastes and flavours cooked by your ‘mom’, in a convenient way! Just like being at home.

The way it works is that you order from Thursday-Sunday the week before, and the food gets delivered to you on the Monday afternoon.

So what did I get ?

My food came packaged in 5 separate typical takeaway style foil containers. The portion sizes were pretty good and all came with rice – just about the right amount for me. The meals I enjoyed this week were;

  • Bombay Aloo
  • Maash Dhal
  • Rajma
  • Saag Paneer
  • Achari chicken

I enjoyed the flavours of all the dishes, but the Dhal and the Bombay Aloo were my favourites. I was a little afraid that the food would be bland, but actually the spicing was really nice and really packed a punch! I felt the potatoes and the Rajma could have had a little more sauce, but other than that, no complaints at all!

The cost of 5 meals is £10, which is also a really fair price in my opinion, and lots cheaper than a normal takeaway!

I think the concept is a really good idea for students and busy professionals alike, even more so when there is a bigger range of menus to choose from. Certainly better than a supermarket ready meal!

Disclosure: We were sent a set of meals free of charge for purpose of review. No other compensation was received. All views are honest and our own.
