Review: Hanyul Essential Skin Softner / Softener

By Beautifulbuns

First of all – whyyyyy is the spelling “Softner”? Why isn’t it “Softener”? The grammar nazi in me is dyingggg and wanting to burst out like the alien spawn from Aliens and eat up the person who approved of this spelling.

Occupational hazard-rant aside, I obviously purchased this for another reason – because I saw the ad with Jeon Jihyun. Which means, in some alternate warped universe, if I use this product, I can also be Jeon Jihyun. Or Gone Jihyun perhaps.

Hanyul Essential Skin Softener
The name comes in both English and Korean – which is apt for marketing to locals and foreigners

I say…

I can’t mentally say this product without sounding all Texan – how’s it goin’ gov’ner? How’d you like to have some skin softner?

  • It comes in this heavy-ass clunk of a glass bottle. Why? Why must it be in such a heavy bottle? Are you testing my resolve to have good skin, Hanyul?
  • Next, you unscrew the cap and find a tiny opening in the top – now, it’d be easy to dispense the product if it were the typical 100%-watery liquid. Unfortunately, this is slightly more viscous, and so it hampers product flow.
  • I found myself having to shake the bottle relatively vigourously to get the Skin Softner out. Again, my resolve to have good skin is tested.
  • Packaging aside, the product is a clear liquid with a slightly herbal scent – it’s more fragrant than herbal actually.
  • It’s easily absorbed and leaves my skin feeling distinctly more moisturised and softer.
  • There’s no sticky afterfeel.
  • After about 2-3 weeks of use, I find my skin slightly smoother (but then again, the credit might go to the Hanyul Optimizing Serum).
  • What I like about this is that it makes my skin softer and takes away the taut tight stripped-clean after-wash feeling.

I’d call this a herbal toner, and I do like the product, but honestly, I wouldn’t buy it again simply for the packaging. Y U so heavy? If you’ve got better biceps than me, go forth and purchase this.
