Review: Guerlain Blanc De Perle White Pearl CC Cream

By Beautifulbuns

I really thought I’d all but run out of CC creams to try – until I unearthed this from my stash. My memory is indeed the pits these days, tsk tsk. Anyhoos, since I’d already spent the monehs to get this, I might as well give it a shot.

I say…

The Packaging: A small-ish tube with a rather small-ish pinhole opening. The size is pretty convenient for carrying along on your travels.

The Scent: A mild powdery fragrant scent that has a slight baby-vibe. It’s really pleasant – me likey.

The Texture: Creamy and smooth. However, it’s slightly denser and therefore has a tendency to “drag” on the skin like Etude House’s Big Cover BB Concealer and DiorSkin’s Dior Star Foundation. That said, the coverage is pretty decent for a CC cream – it covers most blemishes and dark eye circles (though this will require several layers to cover really dark ones). It gives a slight brightening finish – it’s slightly dewy too, but thankfully, not overly shiny. One thing I noticed is that it doesn’t give a particularly smoothing finish (some of the uneven skin texture and enlarged pores could still be seen). The oil control isn’t particularly strong either, because I had to blot after 3-4 hours (and the film was soaked). Most importantly – it doesn’t seem to be waterproof. I applied some eye drops to moisten the dry eyes, and the remnant eye drops that trickled down my face actually caused the CC cream to run.

The Verdict: Overall, one of the rare CC creams to give decent and natural-looking  coverage. It does help to brighten and even out the skin tone sufficiently enough. Despite the lack of oil control, after you blot your skin, the CC cream actually looks “refreshed” and more matte – the blotting film doesn’t lift up much of the CC cream. Just make sure you stay away from water (or even your own perspiration), cos then the CC cream will definitely run. It only comes in one shade, so ladies who aren’t Laneige shade 13-21 / MAC NC15 may not be able to try this on.

Psst: Since I clearly have too many makeup items for my own good, I’m letting go of this cheap – $15 including registered postage. Email me ([email protected]) if you’re keen to get it? I’ve only used it 1-3x for the purpose of this review.
