Review: Davines NouNou Shampoo and Hair Mask

By Kelly Cakar @secondblonde

IMG_1206Davines (pronounced da va ness) is a family run company in Italy founded 20 years ago. I was first introduced to some of the products in this brand about 10 years ago when I worked at Realhair Chelsea. The products have since evolved and the packaging has become much more eco-friendly, I’ve fallen in love with them all over again.

I was lucky to be sent this set to try out specifically targeted to my hair type. When I opened the box the inside of the lid has the inscription “we are so thrilled to be in your hands! Nice to meet you!” I thought it was a nice touch, I’ve not seen that before.

NouNou is a nourishing shampoo and hair mask for highly processed (coloured) and brittle hair just like my fine hair is. The packaging of the individual products are simple and effective without unnecessary packaging such as boxes/plastic wrappings. The brand boasts zero impact products which of course are all paraben free. What’s really good is the “no fuss” little pot the mask comes in can be up-cycled as a plant pot, succulents look really cool in them! (well they do on the shelves in the window of Liberty Beauty Hall)

The smell of this shampoo and mask remind me of the smell of the Glamglow Youth Mud Face Mask which is a good thing, I LOVE that smell.I can’t really describe the smell you will just have to try it!

The shampoo lathers up well and rinses out easy, my hair feels smooth when wet before applying conditioner. It leaves my hair feeling very clean yet moisturised (not sqeaky) without weighing my fine hair down.

The mask unlike most deep conditioners has a very satisfying texture much like that of a really good quality body butter. It makes it easy to scoop out just the right amount without over-loading your hair. It glides through my hair with ease. After 10 mins you rinse it out and voila…beautifully nourished hair that’s easy to manage.

I love these products and happy I’ve been re-introduced to them they are absolutely perfect for my hair the result is shiny healthy looking hair with ends that look like they’ve been freshly trimmed (horray as I’m dodging a cut to grow it a little)

Davines is only available at Davines approved hair salons or retailers, I of course will be repurchasing mine at Liberty of London Beauty Hall Next to try is my Melu Hair Shield to protect my hair from the heat of the hairdryer and hair irons…review coming soon.

Have you tried any of the Davines hair products?  I’d love to hear about them.
