Review: Bare Minerals Pop Of Passion Lip Oil-Balm

So I’ve been on a lip frenzy lately – doesn’t mean I’ll stop anytime hurhurhur. Anyhoos, I found this little pink pretty sitting in my stash a couple of days ago, and I decided, hey, why not test it out :D (I mean, I probably wouldn’t have it any other way since I’m such an incorrigible beauty nutjob).

I say…

The Packaging: It comes in a plastic pink packaging with a click-on cap and a twist-up bullet – it is your usual tried-and-tested format of lippies and doesn’t deviate. It’s about the size of a lip balm (7.5cm in height including the cap).

The Scent: None.

The Application/Texture: Now it looks every bit like your usual lipstick. It glides on super smoothly – not in the watery-smooth way like the Aritaum Water Sliding Tint, but more of the smooth rich buttery/melted honey feel. One layer gives a rosy pink tint, but as it’s supposed to be a lip balm, it does its job of moisturising and hydrating the lips well. On the other hand, it doesn’t quite give color intensity (as you can see from the photos above, the color tends to sink into the crevices and lines of the lips. Applying several layers gives more moisture and hydration and also a more intense color. That said, it never quite reaches the pigmented finish of a lipstick – the best you’ll get is really rosy and really just-bitten lips. It doesn’t stain cups that much

The Verdict: As a lip balm, it does its job pretty decently – my dry lips don’t feel so tight/taut after application, and have a sheer sheen over it. It doesn’t feel too heavy nor greasy despite the “oil” in its name, perhaps due to its formula that’s supposed to melt into your lips and nourish it with passionfruit seed oil as well as vitamin E. The color tint is pretty decent – I can at least see a visible change in lip color. Overall, not too bad for a daytime barely-there finish to deceive someone into thinking you’ve got naturally rosy puckers :D In fact, I’d even say it’s a cheaper alternative to Givenchy’s Le Rouge-A-Porter.  Available at Sephora.
