Redken 'Powder Refresh 01' - Product Rave!
Redken 'Powder Refresh 01' - £12.90
I've been on the hunt for the 'perfect' dry shampoo for a long time now. I started out using the Batiste ones, and don't get me wrong - I got on quite well with them (lovely scent, lovely packaging etc...) - though the age old problem of ending up with that white, powdery, heavy finish was still there.
Because of this, I decided to try a few different brands to see whether there was anything out there that would better suit my particular hair type. If you read my blog regularly, you'll have noticed that I like my hair to be styled quite 'big' with as much volume as possible at all times. This is primarily because it is very long, very thick, and if left to it's own devices can give me a serious case of 'flat-hair flat-head'!
Amongst others, I also tried the TRESemme dry shampoo which I had read fabulous reviews about - however, I can't say I was particularly impressed. It did what I suppose is it's primary objective, in that it matted out any oily patches in my hair, and to be fair it didn't really leave me with any residue. So if you were on a budget this would probably be the one to go for, but it still wasn't giving me all that I was after.
The Redken version though, put simply, is amazing in comparison. When applied, it doesn't feel at all like you'd expect a dry shampoo to feel. It's light - much more like a hairspray but without the stickiness and does exactly what it says on the tin. It mattes out any oiliness much better than the TRESemme version, leaves no powdery residue and most of all, it gives me tonnes of volume in the roots of my hair :) No 'flat-head', wahooo! It's claims of being able to provide a 'quick style refresh' are spot on.
It is a little on the pricey side for a product like this, though if you ask me it's definitely worth the extra pennies for what it's able to provide. Has anyone else tried this product? Is there something cheaper out there that does the same thing that I've overlooked? Do let me know!Redken 'Powder Refresh 01' - Product Rave!
