In honor of this great Nation’s independence and with so many campaigns in full swing, we thought we’d share some Florida election information provided by Ballotpedia.org. However, this website has information for all states. fireworks

Florida is one of 12 states to use a strictly closed primary process, in which the selection of a party’s candidates in an election is limited to registered party members.

The Primary Election is on August 26, 2014 and the General Election is on November 4, 2014.

For the general election, the voter registration deadline is October 6, 2014.

Elections to the U.S. Senate will be held on November 4, 2014. A total of 33 of the 100 seats are up for regular election. Currently, there are 53 Democrats, 45 Republicans and 2 Independents.

The 2014 U.S. House of Representatives elections will take place on November 4, 2014. Voters will elect 27 candidates to serve in the U.S. House, one from each of the state’s 27 congressional districts. Currently, the Republican Party holds 17 of the 27 congressional seats from Florida.

Elections for the office of Florida State Senate will consist of a primary election on August 26, 2014, and a general election on November 4th.

The Republican Party currently holds the majority in the Florida State Senate with 26 Republicans and 14 Democrats.

In the Florida House of Representatives, the Republican Party holds the majority with 75 Republicans and 45 Democrats. However, a total of 17 incumbents are not running for re-election in 2014.

The five state executive positions that are up for election in 2014 in the state of Florida are Governor of Florida, Lieutenant Governor of Florida, Florida Attorney General, Florida Treasurer and Florida Agriculture Commissioner.

State Measures that will appear on the ballot include:

Amendment 1: Environment – Provides funding for the Land Acquisition Trust Fund

Amendment 2: Marijuana – Grants the right to use marijuana for the treatment of certain ailments when recommended by a physician

Amendment 3: Judiciary – Allows the governor to fill judicial vacancies by appointing a justice or judge from a slate of nominees
