Recognize #13

Recognize #13

Only when I think that I am does it have to mean anything.

Clouds in the sky am I, form upon formlessness.

The mind gives birth to thought. There is I am Hanuman Dass. Remove the name and there is only I am…

See that even this thought I am is a construction of the mind, a conceptual reference point. Thus name and form are in the mind. Look at the thought I am, does it have any identity without the attachment of form? Unless you say I am male, American, a father, an employee , etc. the thought I am has no identity in and of itself. There is only the consciousness of beingness and knowingness. I am reflects the natural state: I is Knowledge and am is Existence.

So there is no meaning in this mental construct I am except in that it reflects the reality behind what appears. The thought that arises when there is pure awareness of the experience of the body, sensations, and feelings is that all this input is happening to I am or to me. The I am searches for meaning in the world, in relationships, in religion, etc. to give itself validity and purpose.

What purpose beyond the utility of mind and thought does this thought I am have? It only has meaning when there is attachment to it as an identity. Drop your titles, drop your “who you are” thought streams, drop even the thought I am and what is left? Only pure, unitive, non-locative, timeless Awareness.

Recognition is turning inward. Recognition is intuiting the illusory nature of identity. Recognition is seeing through the attachment to a thought that asserts I am. Recognition is a re-membering, a putting back together of the unity of reality. It’s nothing more than a seeing and knowing what you are by nature.

Abide in That which gives form to I am. Enjoy the I amness effortlessly. Know the bliss, the peace, the freedom of the only reality there is. Rest in the ocean rather than on the shore. You are not foam on the beach, you are That which makes foamness a possibility!
