We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

We were thrilled to be sent these Ready2Robot packs which are only £9.99 each in Smyths Toys. What are they? I think the slogan describes it perfectly - 'Build, Swap, Battle' - robots which you unbox, unpack, build and battle. You can swap them about, swap with friends, collect pilots and battle packs....

I should point out the parts are small as they are meant to be for age 5+. H is currently loving opening toys and having surprise blind bags so this seemed perfect and I was intrigued as to what she'd think of this as it's just like a blind bag, except it's a box with 5 compartments to undo, 7 surprise bags to open unveiling robot parts and a slime pot which is hiding your pilot! That's quite a few surprises! Blind bags and toys seem all the rage at the moment, her Hatchimal, which she got a couple of weeks ago is a huge hit (the video of her opening it was fab!), and she really loves the wee surprise bags that cost £2-3 - I think they're fab as rewards. Cheap but super exciting, unless you get a badge from PJ Masks and then we have less excitement. Anyway back to the Ready2Robots. They're not just robots to build, but include slime - awesome, what kids doesn't love slime??

... Apparently, mine!

Although she did come round to it by the time we opened our third Ready2Robot.

I videoed us unboxing a Ready2Robot and the bit you have to see - H playing with them - watch to the end, I had to laugh!

I'm not sure anyone else will have the same reactions! Yup, maybe not the same reaction most 5 year olds would have, maybe because she's younger, or maybe it's the girl/boy thing. Interesting given she's been obsessed with dinosaurs since 18 months!

Ready2Robot review for age 5+

Firstly, the bits are quite small so best kept out of the way of little ones, and under supervision with under 5s.

Anyway, here's a quick run down... as you open the boxes you find different coloured packets in each section - the body in section 1, arms, legs and weapons in the other sections, followed by the slime to pop out and open.

These are fab for birthdays as you can collect so many of them, and different combinations. Then it's imagination time. Time for the to fight! With or without slime!

I can see H having lots of fun playing with these, particularly when B is napping and we take advantage playing toys her age, reading and doing activities she chooses. Exhausting but worth it to get a little bit of one on one time with her.

Watch to the end of the unboxing video to find out H's reaction and the hilarious way she played with them. It's worth it!! Promise!
