Quick Review and Swatches on the L'Oreal Voluminous Superstar Eyeliner
Since I have finally gotten the hang of doing winged eyeliner. I have an obsession with liquid eyeliners. Until a few months ago, I avoided them like the plague and now I have a mini collection going on.  So, I had to add this new L'Oreal one to my collection. I don't have any strong feelings about it. It is okay and it gets the job done. But it cannot hold a candle to my beloved Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.
The shade is an intense black that L'Oreal claims is ultra shiny instead of matte, which is pretty cool. But it was not quite as shiny I was expecting. I would consider it more of a satin.

At first, I hated it. The shape of the applicator took some getting used to, but I eventually got to a point where I got along with it, and even like it. I still don't love it. What I do like about it is that it allows you to get really close to your lash line without too much trouble.  It is a little more difficult to create a wing with it. There is a learning curve, but once you become used to how the liner operates, it can be done easily.  L'oreal added a "flexor system" so that the felt tip applicator can effortlessly do thick or thin lines. That is pretty accurate. The liner does do a pretty good job at drawing both kinds of lines, although I find it easier to do thin ones.  The way you have to hold the thicker portion of the applicator to the lash line feels awkward to me. That could very much be an operator issue, though.

I even hated the formula at first. No one likes a dry eyeliner, but this one seemed way too wet at first. It smudged too easily and the color was not even opaque. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and now the formula doesn't seem so bad. It doesn't smudge if I am meticulously careful when applying, and now I get mostly opaque color pay off. I still have to fill my in my wing two or three times for it to be completely filled in.  It is a long lasting eyeliner. It looks the same after 8 hours as it did when I first applied it. It doesn't transfer once it dries down, so you don't get any random streaks on your eyelids or under your eye.

The bottom line is that it is okay. I don't mind using it, however it is not something I would buy again.  If you are very experienced with liquid and felt tip liners, you might like it more.
If you want to try this liner, you can find it at Target, Wal-Mart, Ulta, and pretty much any drugstore for $9.99.
