puliyotharai podi made from bengal gram or chana dal,coriander seeds,peppercorns and dry red chilli.

This is the one such wonderful podi,a keeper recipe saw it on tv show by Chef Venkatesh Bhatt.This is such a wonderful keeper podi where you can use it for your gravies too.I used in making my chettinad paneer recipe,which i will post it later here.Make this podi and store it in an airtight container and make the pulikaichal and then sprinkle the powder,boil till it thickens and then mix it with rice and serve.I already posted puliyotharai recipe years back and now reposted with new pictures.check that out and that recipe is what we following in our home.

Amma usually makes this recipe with sesame seeds and fenugreek seeds.But this one seems to be easier and tastes a lot better than my previous try.This year been a wonderful year for me and i made almost most of my bookmarked recipes.My next year planning is to cook from my cookbooks that i own,which resembles rustic south indian curries and stews,some desserts too.

You can make this podi for thickening the gravy recipes or for some stir fry recipes too.lets move on making.,

puliyotharai/puliyogare podi recipe - how to make puliyodharai spice mix

powder made with coriander seeds,bengal gram,dry red chilli and black peppercorns

Ingredients

  • channa dal/bengal gram/kadalai paruppu - 2 tablespoons or as needed
  • coriander seeds- 2 teaspoons or as needed
  • dry red chilli - as per your taste
  • peppercorns- as per your taste
Instructions
  1. dry roast everything individually in low flame and then allow it to cool.
  2. Once they are cool enough,ground them into fine powder.
  3. cool the powder and then store it in an airtight container.
