Prop 37 Defeated in California: Top 5 Actions to Avoid GMO's

By Peaceloveorganicmommy
Well it looks as though California Proposition 37 was unfortunately defeated. Although, this is just the beginning of the food label battle. There are several simple things you can do to avoid GMO's and not support the large corporations creating this food.
Here is a list of the Top 5 Actions to Take to Avoid GMO's:
1.) Do not support/ban the companies who create GE food. In my post from yesterday I included a picture chart of the companies who supported Prop 37 and those who did not.

Conventional companies not supporting of GMO labeling: Monsanto, Coca Cola, Del Monte, Hershey's, Campbell's, Bumble Bee, Godiva, Ocean Spray, ConAgra Foods, Pepsico, Nestle, Kelloggs, Land O' Lakes, McCormick, McCain, General Mills, Hormel, Sargento, Smuckers, Dole

"All Natural" companies not supporting GMO labeling: Naked, Alexia, Odwalla, Simply Orange, Kashi, Morning Star, Silk, Larabar, Horizon, R.W. Knudsen, Cascadian Farms, Lightlife, Honest tea IZZE, Santa Cruz Organic, Gardenburger
2.) Buy USDA Organic Foods: The National Organic Standards prohibit the use of genetic engineering
*Make sure it actually has a USDA Organic stamp not just the word "organic" on packaging
*You can also buy foods that are not organic if they are stamped with the NON-GMO Verified Seal
3.) Buy Fresh Foods as Much as Possible- GMO's tend to mostly be in processed foods containing corn and soy
4.) Avoid the 5 Top Foods Most Likely to be GE- Corn, Soy, Canola, Cotton, Sugar made from beets
5.) Speak your mind to the FDA and Petition GMO Food Labeling here:
