Progressive-Left Racism

goldhagen antisemitism 082813 620pxOutside of political Islam, the progressive-left is the most racist political movement active in the west today.
The general tendency is to look at non-white people as helpless little children who must never be held responsible for anything that they think or do.
The Jews of the Middle East, however, are generally looked upon as baby killers and genocidal maniacs.
Let me give you a few examples from everyone's favorite left-leaning political blog, Daily Kos.
Under a piece suggesting that in opposing the Palestinian-Arab bid for recognition by the International Criminal Court, the United States and Israel oppose peace, social justice, and anything that resembles human decency in any way.
Here are some comments beneath this piece:
They pretend they are patient when they repeatedly shoot and starve children.  They shoot children because they shot at UN schools after the UN told them there were civilians including children.
by babalu on Sun Jan 04, 2015 at 05:30:41 AM PST
This is only part of babalu's comment, but it is the part I want to highlight.
Whenever they go after Israel they always seem to highlight "the children."  They never do this with any other country, but with Israel they always claim that they intentionally go after children.
I was going to suggest that this is a vestige of the blood libel, but the truth is that it is not a vestige, but a continuation of it in a contemporary form.  It is the blood-libel and what babalu is doing is whipping up hatred toward the Jewish people.  The only difference is that instead of complaining that Jews are responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus, now we are held responsible for the crucifixion of the Christ-like "Palestinians."
I have long had a dream (20+ / 1-)
Of a day when Israel no longer sets the foreign policy of the US.
by Wolffarmer on Sun Jan 04, 2015 at 05:37:15 AM PST
This is, of course, the classic Jews Control Everything notion.
The Nazis thought something very similar, that the Jews were behind the scenes, manipulating economics and politics to the detriment of their "host" country.  Wolffarmer believes that even though Israel has never managed to get the United States to recognize its capital city as its capital city that, nonetheless, Israel controls the US government.
This comment was rightly "hide rated" by one of the few weak pro-Israel people allowed to participate on Daily Kos, but that hide rate was met with by this:
You don't get it, do you? (1+ / 0-)
Finally, at long last, the rest of the planet is catching on to the evil behind Israeli actions.
Continue dropping your pathetic little donuts. The world will pass you by, leaving you whimpering along the roadside.

Israel is evil.
In other words, the Jews of the Middle East are evil.
There is evil "behind" their actions.
This can only mean that the Devil stands with Israel.
Most people who have fought for their freedom (8+ / 0-)
have been classified as terrorists by those oppressing them at some point, and have often acted as such when oppressed further. Yet the root cause of this terrorism is not necessarily their own

This is the "one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter" canard.
The Arabs have been oppressing and seeking to murder Jews for fourteen hundred years, yet according to LaFeminista, who wrote the piece, the ongoing attempt by Arabs to murder Jews is a matter of righteous resistance and "the root cause of this terrorism is not necessarily their own."
In other words, Arabs are not responsible for their own behavior.  That would be the fault of the Jews.
It's been pretty clear for years (2+ / 0-)
that Israel does not want a two-state solution.
What they want is for Palestinians to fuck off and/or die. They want the land, all of it, minus the Palestinians, and they aim to get it by any means necessary.

So, decade after decade after decade Israel agrees to two-states for two peoples and the Arabs reject it yet somehow according to this genius it is Israel that opposes the two-state solution.  In other words, the party that agreed to it opposes it, while the party that rejected it time and again, is in no way responsible for their rejection.
Israeli agents of government cannot be perceived as powerful unless they inflict damage on someone. Since it would be counter-productive to inflict physical injury on their own kind, they make an example of the Palestinians.
by hannah on Sun Jan 04, 2015 at 05:51:38 AM PST
What hannah is saying is that the Israeli government has a specific policy to inflict physical injury on random Arabs in order, essentially, to show them who is boss.  One would think that if Israel had such aggression they would have taken over the Temple Mount long ago, but they have not.
In any case, the point here is to highlight the hannah's presumption of Israeli evil.
What most of them seem to have in common is a reflexive belief that Israel is an evil country, which can only really mean that the Jews are an evil people.
This is ultimately what they are telling one another, but anti-Jewish racists tell one another this every generation... prior to the violence.
The United States pushed and pushed and pushed for "free elections" to take place and apparently they were free because the United States and Israel did not get their preferred government for the Palestinian Authority. So the Bush administration, along with Netanyahu, began a campaign of official and unofficial harassment and marginalization, designed to cause Hamas to fail and to delegitimatize it in the eyes of the Palestinian people and the world.
by MargaretPOA on Sun Jan 04, 2015 at 06:03:58 AM PST
Margaret thinks that the US and Israel are conducting a campaign to unjustly delegitimize  Hamas.
Hamas calls specifically for the genocide of the Jews, but that seems to be just dandy with Margaret.
In other words, in public as a progressive, she seeks to legitimize an organization that cries out for the murder of the Jewish people.
And I am supposed to believe that "progressives" are moral?
It makes perfect sense-- (6+ / 0-)
The Palestinians are trying to act like a nation. The Israelis cannot have that because they want one apartheid state of Greater Israel where non-Jews have second-class citizenship or are unpersons.

The least "apartheid" country in the region is Israel and non-Jews have far greater rights to citizenship and civil liberties than do any non-Muslims in any of the 22 Arab states, yet this imbecile harps on the one decent country in that part of the world.
There is no sense of humanity.  No sense of proportionality.  Seventy-five thousand people died last year in Syria which represents more casualties than we have seen in the entire Arab-Israel conflict since 1948.
By the way, it's pretty amazing that since that the Jews of the Middle East think of all non-Jews, according to zenbassoon, as "unpersons" that Arabs are represented both in the Knesset and in the Israeli supreme court, yet they constantly spit their hatred at the lone, sole Jewish state.
In any case, this is a small sampling of the kind of reflexive, unthinking hatred that Israel receives from western leftists.  Not all of them, of course, speak like this.
The rest of them merely sit on the sideline eating popcorn while their Jewish friends and neighbors are demonized and defamed in preparation for the coming violence.
