Product Review - Finches Friend Cleaner Peanut Feeder

By Ozhene @papaver

Regular readers may recall that a couple of years ago I reviewed a couple of products from Finches Friend - the 'Cleaner Window Feeder' and the 'Cleaner Feeder 1'; so when I was at the Garden Press Event a few weeks ago and saw their stand I went over to say hello. They showed me their 'Cleaner Peanut Feeder' and asked me if I would like one to review. Well of course I said yes.

I have not paid for this feeder and I have not been paid to write this review. My words and opinions are my own.

The feeder follows the same principles as the ones I have previously reviewed in that they are easy to clean which is vital as good hygiene is very important for feeding birds and not passing on infections. The feeder hopper is easy to remove and therefore easy to clean. It is made of UV-stabilised polycarbonate which is recyclable and not damaged by sunlight.

It also has this metal grill which is good at withstanding squirrels. I have a lot of squirrels so I wondered how long it might last. I have been using it for a good few weeks now and so far so good.

The 'water skirt' helps protect the peanuts from rain/getting wet, which again is very important for bird health.

The feeder can hold 1.4kg of peanuts and the design keeps them dry and makes sure they are accessible from all sides. The peanuts will drop down into the feeding grill so they do not get stuck in the feeder.

The birds are happily pecking at the peanuts and so I can happily recommend this product. At the time of writing the feeder retails at £29.99 which compared to other robust bird feeders I think is a good price.

Take care and be kind.
