Product Review: DragonFly Teas

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

DSC_0048 Dragonfly Tea are a British, family owned company with a heritage of sourcing and growing the finest of teas.  Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and with such a wide variety you’re almost certain to be able to find one (or many!) to your taste. I’m very much a ‘black tea’ kinda girl, but I do dabble in mint tea and white teas from time to time so am always on the look out for new brands I haven’t tried, and new varieties. A traditionalist at heart though, my favorite is always going to be a good old cup of English Breakfast! DSC_0025 DSC_0032 When I was contacted by Dragonfly Tea, of course, I jumped at the chance to try their teas. A quick peruse of their website and I was already in love – their branding I thought was gorgeous. The watercoloured dragonflies central to their design were lovely, and dragonflies themsleves, being symbols for purity vitality and harmony across the world is a lovely ethos to have behind your company. DSC_0043 I chose a few teas to try;

  • English Breakfast
  • Indian Spice Chai
  • Golden Himalaya
  • Vanilla Rooiboos

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been making my way through these, cup after cup. What a chore eh?! First off the Vanilla Rooiboos. I’ve not tried many Rooiboos teas, but this was by far the nicest I have. It’s infused with Madagascan vanilla which gives it a wonderfully smooth and naturally sweet taste. Rooiboos (or redbush) is only grown in a remote are of South Africa and is known for its natural goodness. For me this is great with or without a splash of milk.

Next up we have the Indian Spice Chai. This tea was was deeply spiced with a rich aroma and flavor. It wasn’t my favorite tea, but that’s more because I’m not the biggest fan of Chai. It goes really well with a slice of cake and for Chai fans I think this will be a winner.

My next choice was the Golden Himalaya, a Darjeeling tea. These leaves are grown in the cool moist climate in the foothills of the Himalayas. I found this to be a wonderfully light tea but still really quite fragrant. It was probably my husbands favorite of the 4 we tried.

Lastly, and without a doubt my favorite was the Breakfast Tea. This wasn’t a surprise to me, breakfast blends are always top of my list, but this was one was one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. This blend was really smooth and full bodied with a real depth of flavor to it. Perfect not just for breakfast, but every other hour of the day too!

A word needs to be said also for the  small touches that really make a brand such as Dragonfly stand out. For me in this case it was carrying forward the coloured logo onto the individual teabag packets and the little quotes that adorn the teabags themselves, like in the pics below. It just makes you smile. And smiling makes the world go round doesn’t it :)

Dragonfly is most certainly a brand I will buy again. I’m going to buy their Moroccan Mint and some of the Earl Grey to try soon. Have a look at their website for more information. Time for a cuppa I think.
