Price Drops Everywhere

It’s that time of the season — when stores do their second round of price drops, so the deals are especially good, but there are also still things left to be had. Over the weekend, drops happened at Mr. Porter, End, and Matches.

Mr. Porter: Now up to 70% off, which is usually when Mr. Porter clears through their remaining stock. Some things that caught my eye:
  • Field jackets: I handled this APC field jacket at Barney’s earlier in this season and thought it’d make for a great fall coat given its removable liner. Oliver Spencer also has a nice model. For something more affordable, check out this Aspesi ripstop jacket. It looks lighter in weight than the other two, but this could be a good thing in the summertime.
  • Leather jackets: I really like this Margiela 5-zip and Saint Laurent Harrington. I recently bought the Margiela in black lambskin and it’s quickly become one of my favorite outerwear pieces. If I could afford another, I’d love to get this blue version.
  • Shoes: A relatively good price on white leather low tops from APC. I say relatively because I still can’t believe companies are charging this much for white, minimalist sneakers.
  • Shirts: Crazy cheap shirts from J. Crew.
  • Accessories: Also on heavy discount are ties from Drake’s, belts from Anderson, and gloves from Dents and Merola.

End: End just put up their sale page, which has steeper discounts than the 25% they gave last week. You can sort through their sale through their official sale page (where products are arranged by item type), or by going through their brand list. For example:

  • Barbour: As mentioned before, the Barbour stock is hidden, but you can find it on sale if you search for it manually.
  • Nigel Cabourn: Reworked military and expedition clothes that make for great casualwear.
  • RRL: Good prices on henleys and thermals, which make for nice layering pieces.
  • SNS Herning: Also good for layering, SNS’ textured knitwear.
  • Our Legacy: I’ve been digging some of Our Legacy’s simpler designs, such as their sweatshirts and washed jeans
  • Battenwear: A great brand if you like the Daiki Suzuki era of Woolrich Woolen Mills. The designer here used to be Suzuki’s design assistant.
  • Aspesi: A great source for slimmer fitting field jackets.
  • Trickers: One lone Tricker’s boot on sale.
  • Saturdays Surf NYC: Unfamiliar with the brand’s quality, but I like this “boucle” shirt.

Matches: Like Barneys and Yoox, Matches’ inventory can be a pain to sift through, but I’ve filtered out some brands here. You can use that as a starting point and add or subtract to the list as you see fit. Shipping to the US is free with the checkout code USAFREE. Some notables:

  • Waxed cotton Oliver Spencer jacket: A bit pricey, but I thought it looked pretty good on this StyleForum poster
  • Patrik Ervell sweater: I hate cotton sweaters for how easily they stretch out, but love textured knitwear for layering. Tough call.
  • Stutterheim raincoats: Nice, rubbery raincoats to wear with casual clothes.
  • Margiela 5-zip: There’s that Margiela again.
  • APC field jacket: For men who hunt for nothing but sales.
  • Ralph Lauren fishing bag: For men who fish for nothing but compliments.
  • Belstaff motorcycle jacket: For men who ride nothing but trends. (Ok, I’ll stop).
