Following on from AJP Taylor (Sunday) and Mrs Patrick Campbell (yesterday) another more "informal" plaque…
#plaque366 Donald Soper Born in Wandsworth, South London, Donald Soper was a preacher and radical whose public speaking appearances at Tower Hill and Hyde Park Corner drew large crowds. He was a pacifist, teetotaller and a passionate opponent of blood sports. Legend has it that Irish Unionist politician the Reverend Ian Paisley once threw a bible at his head in a disagreement over literal interpretation of the bible.
Famed for ministering to the excluded and the disadvantaged, he asserted that the policies of Margaret Thatcher were inherently incompatible with Christianity.
You can find his plaque at Tower Hill…

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
