Pinteresting…

By Wildchildmedia @wildchildmedia

My curiosity got the better of me a few days ago and I explored the world Pinterest to see what all the fuss was about, now I can’t stop going on to it!

Pinterest has surpassed 11 million user accounts, quite quickly. This is a visual convergence site, a virtual pin board for those who are all about organising their areas of (p)interest all in one place.

People join Pinterest to create a presence through the use of imagery; this can be anything from clothes, food recipes, landscapes, posters, animals, logos, business cards, so on and so forth, anything that is picture friendly. It allows users to share all the beautiful things they find when surfing the web. You can browse through other users boards who you are enthusiastic about and pin their picture to your board. You like it, you pin it. You own it, you share it. They like it, they pin it, until you are a pinterest phenomenon.

May sound slightly complicated, but it is not at all, as a user and I grasped the concept of the site very quickly and enjoy regular use.

Pinterest is also very beneficial for businesses, the idea for businesses joining the site, is that they want to create a visual relationship with their followers; people remember imagery a lot more than they would remember a paragraph of words. Inspire pinners to follow your business, pin what they like and share it with other users. Pinterest carries potential for businesses to create a lot of traffic to their Pinterest page, which subsequently leads them to discover other online media belonging to that business learn more about them and potentially make an enquiry or better, an investment.

Pinterest is also the perfect social media site for people interested in photography and imagery. Areas of interest are so easy to find and you can then share with followers. Pinterest is different from Facebook and twitter as it develops online presence through the use of images, telling a story about the person, through their choice of pin boards and pictures. So everyone get joining before you miss the Pinterest bus.
