Peacock Confirms A Reboot Of ‘The Office’ With A Brand-New Setting

NBC’s The Office is one of the greatest shows of all time. Peacock has officially confirmed a reboot of the series. It will not revolve around the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Rather, the show will emphasize a dying newspaper and the efforts of people to revive the company.

The Office fans can finally sleep in peace knowing that there is going to be a reboot of their beloved series. Reports have predicted that a reboot is much better than a potential spinoff. However, disappointment among fans is also at its peak. This is because the show will not take place at fans’ favorite Dunder Mifflin in Scranton.

The title for the upcoming reboot has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, the subject will not be the paper company but a dying midwestern newspaper. It will revolve around a publisher who struggles to keep the company alive. Further, he is supported by the company’s reporters.

The American OTT platform Peacock shared these details in a statement.

The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters,

Lisa Katz, the President of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal, gave a statement about the anticipated series. She said,

It’s been more than ten years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock.

In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper,

2005’s The Office is an American mockumentary sitcom. It is one of the most appreciated and classic TV shows of all time. The show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2013, and had a total of 201 episodes. In the meantime, The Office garnered many awards. They include two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe Award for Carell’s performance, and four Primetime Emmy Awards. 

Notably, The Office became the most-streamed show in 2020 and had more than 57 billion watch minutes, according to Nielsen.
