Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake Pangong Lake beautifully nestled in Ladakh in the north Indian state Jammu
and Kashmir is a prominent tourist destination. It is situated at an elevation of around 4350 meters above the sea level and is said to be the highest Endorheic Lake in the world. The Lake is 83 miles long and 3.5 miles wide which extends from India to Tibet. 

The 60 % of the Lake lies in the Tibet where in India of 40 %. It is a worth visiting destination. The Lake lying the in the foot layers of the great Himalayas is listed under Ramsar Convention as an internationally popular wetland. 

The Lake features brackish water and the low micro vegetation. Thiksey is the nearby settlement of the people and huge ancient Buddhist monasteries. The lake is also known for its black necked Siberian crane, waterfowls and bar headed geese. 

During winters the Lake freezes. Tourist visiting to Pangong Lake also gets an opportunity to explore the picturesque hamlets like Thiksey, Chemry and also Indus Valley at the end. Leh is well connected to all the major cities flights from Delhi, Srinagar and Jammu etc. After reaching Leh one has to take taxi to Pangong and on the way experience bumpy and bouncy terrain. It is a real retreat to Photographers and a tourist having asthma of any breathing problem then must avoid this destination.
